Learning, Experimentation, Evaluation & Ethos

Teachers are lifelines of a technical education system. They are the source of information and knowledge. Because teaching and learning are complex, dynamic activities, research targeted towards improving student learning must take into account amongst other things, the teaching learning experience.

Understanding the relationship between research and teaching is critical to developing a good course. It is the basis for further experimentation not just on information transfer but itslarger role as containers of knowledge for the betterment of society.

Informed teaching requires critical reading and discussion using a variety of research methods. As teachers apply research to their own classroom contexts, they begin the kind of reflection that leads to the generation of their own research, often as teacher/practicing researchers. Practicing teachers who ask questions and then systematically study their own teaching, generate new research about teaching that can be shared with others. There is also a need for a knowledge-based ethical environment in dealing with the significant challenges of our times, which has deep-rooted effects in the technological era of the present world order.

With these objectives, the Rachana Sansad’s Institute of Environmental Architecture has organized a one-day workshop on ‘Teaching and Research: Learning, Experimentation, Evaluation and Ethos’ on 19 April 2013. The workshop will be conducted by Dr. R.K. Pandit, Professor, MITS, Gwalior
