Photography is very much like television, radio or telephone. Meaning, Photography-like many wonders of this age has become such an obvious part of our lives that we take it for granted. Something that is always there, so we rarely have to think about it. I find this an alarming thought for someone involved in the business of advertising, the biggest single consumer of photography. Food, fashion, and automobiles virtually everything we see depicted in advertisements look entirely dissimilar to what it does in real life. Photography is a special art in that the exploration and selection must be done either in advance of taking picture, before the shutter is tripped, or afterward in the darkroom. In the analyzing a picture, the skillful photographer performs 3 different sorts of exploration. He examines his feelings and thoughts about the subject, in short, it meaning to him.
