An enthusiastic teacher, facilitator, and learner for over two decades; wholeheartedly interacting, and experimenting with Design students exploring fundamental and new Teaching Methods. A Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Art, Prof. Prajakta strongly believes; her Indian roots, vast Cultural treasure of Folk-Art forms, and Language-Dialect-Script repertoire has tremendous scope for Indian Typography and/or Design. Her keen interest in this domain is widely appreciated through various paper presentations at National and International Conferences. Recipient of the prestigious AKS GLOBAL TEACHER AWARD for the year 2021 and EMERGING SCHOLAR AWARD (three years in a row) for ‘Advocating Indian culture into Design Education’ by the Design Principles and Practices Conference organized by Common Grounds, in the US; is Dr. Prajakta’s testament of her dedication and commitment towards the noble profession of teaching.

Associate Professor

Believing students being creators from within, teaching since sixteen years has been a passionate endeavor. Asso. Prof. Aditi believes; with teacher’s guidance students can be encouraged to become problem solvers and excel in their creative pursuit for betterment of mankind. Her areas of interest vary from Communication Design, Advertising to Community Development. Her experience includes conducting Industrial projects, guiding Placements, and presenting papers in National/International seminars. She is currently pursuing Doctorate from Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan.




Nilima Jadhav

A creative person who loves to experience and express aspects of life in every possible way. Asst. Prof Nilima has diversified interests, especially the role of Visual Art in advertising communication. She believes what one is today, is a result of what one would have thought yesterday. And this extends her passion to know what appeals most to the human mind in context to communication. Currently pursuing her Doctorate from MIT, Pune; Asst. Prof. Nilima explores understanding the importance of communication fundamentals to new lifestyles.



Ramanand Bhagat

Assistant Professor

M.F.A. (Applied Art) (Research), B.F.A. (Applied Art) - University of Mumbai

A revered educator; Asst. Prof Ramanand has illustrated for biological comics (graphic novels) of eminent personalities like G.D. Birla and Narayan Guru. He has been an illustrator with Amar Chitra Katha working on subjects like the Indus Valley Civilization. He taught at the Goa College of Art before joining Rachana Sansad, nineteen years ago. A National Award recipient for Children’s literature from NCERT, Delhi in 2000; Asst. Prof. Ramanand has three books published in the USA by World Hindu Council of America on Indian Culture and Mythology.



Dr. Vivek Tetwilkar

PhD. Fine Art (Visualization) - Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan; M.F.A. (Visualisation) - BAMU, Aurangabad;  B.F.A. (Applied Art), PG. Dip. in Museology and Conservation - University of Mumbai

3D designer by nature, and teaching since fifteen years is a happy space. Actively involved in Film, Drama, and Event Art direction; Asst. Prof. Vivek guides intermediate students with subjects like Exhibition Display Design & Stage Craft, Communication & Information Design. His areas of interest vary from Space design, 3D Working Displays, and Innovations. Asst. Prof. Vivek conducts workshops for school children, Design students, and Industry practitioners on topics like Origami, Stop Motion Animation, Model making & materials. His research in Portable Agro Exhibitions was well appreciated during his doctorate.



Dr. Seema Pradeep Kamble

Fine artist by nature, a sincere teacher continuing to search solutions for academic development and student betterment. Asst. Prof. Seema understands student psychology and is keen on aesthetics, creativity, and experiments in art. She believes in adapting to changing times of new mediums, and her works with mediums, textures, compositions have been awarded on National and International levels. She regards humanity, art for society, and observes the environment, surroundings, colours, and human beings with their behavior. A strong hands-on learner prefers to be a student at heart.



Suresh Komalwad

A visualiser-illustrator by profession until he started teaching nineteen years ago; Asst. Prof. Suresh has won Advertising awards and accolades. His guidance to students focuses more on ideation and visualisation, ultimately leading them to Advertising/Communication design solutions. He has participated in group painting exhibitions and won several national and international art, painting and poster competitions over the last two decades. Upgrading himself with the advertising industry, Asst. Prof. Suresh attends knowledge sharing seminars and workshops from time to time. 



Manasi Shekhar Keni

Associated with this institute for the last nineteen years, Asst. Prof. Manasi has been felicitated for her contribution in the field of Typography by Management on the occasion of 58th Founders Day of Rachana Sansad in 2018. A passionate and skilled Teacher who passes on practical skills, knowledge and experience to students from the creative field, Asst. Prof. Manasi believes in promoting an educational climate, both scientific and technological. Her areas of interest are Typography, Visual communication and Visualisation.



Maya Amol Desai

A multi discipline, mix media artist, Asst. Prof. Maya has experience in Exhibition Display Design, Web designing and Painting. She passionately creates lessons that both educate and inspire students for fourteen years now. Strongly believing in the combination of traditional learning and power of modern technologies; Asst. Prof. Maya tries to find new and exciting ways to use them for teaching. 



Abhay Patil

A true photographer, Asst. Prof. started his teaching career with the department as a visiting professor of Photography some twenty years ago. His interest interacting with college students made him join full time five years later and is still strong with the department. Asst. Prof. Abhay believes in enjoying one's work so as to enjoy the results. This motto helped him bag the Best Teacher award organised by Rachana Sansad Management once. 



Dr. Anil Nahate

A calligraphy artist by heart, teaching since eighteen years; Asst. Prof. Anil has mentored elementary-level students of Applied Art, Fine Art, and Architecture at this parent institute. His popularity with students helped him bag the Best Teacher award organised by Rachana Sansad Management twice. Conducting Calligraphy exhibitions and workshops across India, Asst. Prof. Anil has participated in National and International events receiving accolades. 



Abhishek Kene

Lecturer

Diploma in Electronics and Video Engineering - University of Mumbai

A professional practitioner of Graphic Softwares, Animation, and associate in User Interface Design; Abhishek has been teaching Design tools with processes, fundamentals and Digital Design to undergraduate courses for twelve years now. His critical, analytical reading skills and comprehension of thoughts enable Abhishek to experimentally approach problem solving with technology. With a constant desire to learn from, and updating his technical skills; Abhishek connects students to learn modalities that incite their interest in functional design by adding inputs to executing tasks, and presenting subjects visually.



Omkar Mahashabde

With ten years of professional experience as Illustrator, Graphic Designer, Art Director, Visual storyteller and Creative head, Omkar has to his credit reputed portfolios/clients like Le15, Starting Monday, Grey Global, White turtle Studios, Pratham Books, Publicis and Thatzit Pvt Ltd. His cartoon character dissection Artistry has episodes released on POGO and Netflix. And few of his illustrations are shortlisted for Online Exhibitions abroad. Omkar is one of our Departments’ illustrious Alumni.



Ajinkya Sutar

Brand ideator and Art director for over a decade, Art comes naturally to Ajinkya as do visually compelling ideas. His innate passion for creation has shaped Brands from identity to assets, seen ‘Inspiration Medal’ for Marathon, and innovative space design projects abroad. With clients like Jawa motorcycles, SUD Life Insurance, Hinduja Hits Network, Atomberg Technologies, Ajinkya solves communication problems using design thinking methodologies. His soft-spoken, approachable personality, sense of empathy and simplified process of teaching makes him a perfect fit with the Department. Ajinkya is one of our Departments’ illustrious Alumni.



Janaki Sonalkar

PG. Dip. in Design - NID, Ahmedabad; B.F.A. (Applied Art) - University of Mumbai

A Product Designer and an Entrepreneur with teaching experience of seven years, Janaki has been recipient of Fellowship at Burg - Giebichenstein University, Halle, Germany. Previously, she was faculty at the Academy of Architecture here, teaching subjects like System Thinking, Craft Studies, and workshops related to eco friendly & sustainable materials for design. Her interests include Graphic Design, Traditional Indian Arts & Crafts, Educational Game Design, Pedagogies for development of emotional quotients. Janaki is one of our Departments’ illustrious Alumni.



Unmesh Nayak

An aspiring Designer with core experience in Communication Design and Creative Direction, Unmesh also has hands-on experience with Graphic Design, Illustration and Animation. He believes that Design can change the world, for the better or for the worse; and it is up to us to make it better. An illustrious Alumni of our Department, Unmesh is a fresh new asset who can help his juniors to think likewise.



Poonam Pandit

Into teaching profession for the past 13 years, Poonam has progressed from being a Senior Lecturer to an Assistant Professor encouraging students for their good qualities and individual potential in subjects like Typography, Graphic Design, Package Design, 2D Design and colour.

Her experience as a creative designer - visualizer, Texturing, Matte Paint, and storyboard artist has helped Poonam immensely in guiding young advertisers and designers. Currently pursuing her PhD, Poonam looks forward to the teaching challenges and opportunities at CAAC.



Tanvi Kocharekar

A CAAC alumnus, Tanvi had been a research associate at IIT Powai (IDC). With a professional experience of eight years as a Communication Designer and Visualiser, Tanvi serves the creative field today through her own studio. Simultaneously, for the past five years, she is teaching multiple subjects like material handling, Digital Design, documenting design and elective Exhibition Display Design and Stage Craft. 



Akshay Khadilkar

One of our own alumni, Akshay has been successfully coordinating the Two Year Advance Certification Course for the last nine years. With a parallel Industry experience as a graphic designer with leading companies Akshay has been consistently producing innovative and unique designs for print and digital media.

An aspiring designer with core experience in Branding and Packaging, Sneha has to her credit worked with many agencies and brand houses. Her keen interest in Typography and its Cultural Art bringing out a wider change in our society through every design produced, is what made our alumni pursue MFA and venture into teaching.
